About Colac Community Enterprise
and how it works
Colac is a growing region and we need to look at new and innovative ways in which to meet challenges that will confront our community in the future.
A locally owned and managed Community Enterprise with substantial resources behind it, can go a long way towards supporting individuals and organisations to help make the Colac region a better place to live, both today and in the future.
The Colac Community Enterprise derives its funding from the local community in which it is situated and delivers this funding back to worthy causes which are helping to improve the quality of life of thousands of local residents. The money it generates therefore stays in the area and contributes to local economic development.
There are a growing number of ways you can be involved in supporting your community:
• Banking with the Bendigo Bank and/or
• Getting your business telecommunications service from Geelong Community Telco.
By doing either of these two things, or both, you will:
• Return the profits of your banking and telecommunications spend back into the region and the local community, which in turn retains capital and employment in our region and supports our local economy
• Get to choose from a great range of banking and telecommunications products at competitive rates which offer local and personalised customer service.
The Colac branch of the Bendigo Bank and Geelong Community Telco contributes the following to the Colac Community Enterprise:
• 0.1% of individual banking value for existing Colac Bendigo Bank customers
• 0.2% of individual banking value for new customers
• 2.5% of individual business telecommunication spend with Geelong Community Telco.
These contributions enable the Colac CE to offer ongoing financial support to community projects in Colac and the surrounding districts at no cost to the customer.
One hundred percent of the revenue donated from the Colac community will be
distributed to meet a range of local community needs. The Directors have resolved that the general areas we believe the enterprise can assist in supporting Colac and the surrounding region includes:
• Community Projects
• Aged
• Youth
• Emergency Crisis
The appointed Directors will meet regularly to assess written applications and allocate funds in accordance with the distribution guidelines. It will also assist in emergency situations as they arise.
